Harold James
Harold "Pete" James, 88, formerly of Wolcott died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Green Tree in West Lafayette. He had been ill for six months.
He was born October 21, 1915 in Lafayette, the son of Rufus and Floy O. Burns James. He married Ruth Wurzbacher on October 29, 1939. She survives.
He was a 1933 graduate of Reynolds High School, [sic] he farmed in Benton, Jasper and White counties all of his life. He was a member of the "Flying Farmers," traveled the world and flew through the Arctic Circle.
Survivors include a son, Frank (Cathy) James of Wolcott; a grandson, Michael James at home; a brother, John (Sue) James of Battle Ground; and seven sisters, Annie Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marilyn Montgomery of Louisville, Ky., Rose (Charles) Young of Speedway, Charlotte (Everett) Swartz of Indianapolis, Mary (Bud) Ruemler of Monticello, Betty Criswell of Monon and Dorothy Zarse of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Valerie James.
Funeral services were Tuesday, at the Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Sparks officiating.
