Harry S. Jackman

Harry S. Jackman, 85, of Monticello died Monday, June [i.e., July] 30, 2001 in Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer following an illness of 1 year.

He was born March 15, 1916 in Elwood, Indiana the son of Harry and Esther M. White Jackman.

He was a retired self-employed carpenter and had lived in the Monon and Monticello areas since 1975, coming from Gary, Indiana.

He married June Elaine Peters on June 18, 1943 in Gary. She died October 10, 1987.

He served as a sergeant in the US Army during W.W.II, serving in Europe. He was a member of the VFW at Monticello and the American Legion at Monticello.

He is survived by his long time companion Ruth A. Boyd of Monticello; a son, Larry Jackman of Crown Point; a daughter Patricia Baker of Carthage, Missouri; 2 step sons; Ray Boyd of Mineral Wells, Texas, Jim Boyd, Spanaway, Washington and 2 step-daughters, Carolyn Crockett of Monticello and Janet Bulington of Monon.

Three brothers; Sam Jackman, Anderson, IN, Ralph Jackman, Anderson, IN, Charles Jackman, Monon, Iowa and two sisters, Clara Mae Wines, Wabash, IN and Carolyn McCarthey of Gary, IN. He had 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister are deceased.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Kellogg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 3, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Kellogg Funeral Home with Pastor Mathew Pickett officiating.

Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
