Mary M. Tutewiler Irwin

Mary M. Tutewiler Irwin, 84, Monticello, died Tuesday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical center, where she had been a patient since Monday.  She had been a resident of St. Anthony Healthcare Center, Lafayette, since August 21, 1991.

She was born in Indianapolis on March 21; 1909, to Harry and Julia Bell Goodheart Tutewiler. She married Marion J. "Bill" Irwin in Macon, GA, on November 6 1943. He survives.

She was a 1927 graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, and a 1932 graduate of DePauw University, Greencastle.

She formerly lived in Brookston and at Rt. 2, Brookston, prior to moving to Monticello in 1978.

She was formerly employed by the Marion County Welfare Department, the Tippecanoe Welfare Department and Logansport State Hospital -

In 1979, she published a book of poetry titled ''Our Time in Rhyme." She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Hour Social Club and Alpha Chi Sorority.

Surviving with her husband are a son, James W. of Lafayette; one daughter, Janie Anderson of Brookston; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two sisters and one son are deceased.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Robert Flynn ofticiated.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston. Memorials can be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association.
