Paul R. "Bob" Irons

Paul R. "Bob" Irons, 85, Monon died at White County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 13 2002, after an illness of 1 week.

He was born January 29, 1917 in Monon to Chester Paul and Gladys Harbaugh Irons. He married Irene Fisher on October 21, 1945 in Monon. She died August 5, 2002.

He was a 1935 graduate of Monon High School.

A retired fanner, he attended the Monon United Methodist Church in Monon.

He served as a Master Sgt., in the Army Air Force, during WWII. (1941-1945). He served in the Mid East and Africa.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #319, Monon and the TARS Ham Radio Club.

He was a former officer and member of the North White School Board, the North White High School Building Trades Board member and a trustee of the Bedford Cemetery Association for the past 40 years.

One sister, Mrs. Florence (Ned) Simmons, Ottawa, Ill, and 22 nieces and nephews survive him.

One sister is deceased.

Friends may call at the Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 17, 2002 with funeral services to follow at 12:00 noon on Thursday with Pastor Mathew Pickut officiating.

Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Monon Nutrition Center.
