JoAnn F. Hughes, 80, of Chalmers died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi.

She was born November 21, 1924 at Lafayette to Wilbur and Sylvia (Simpson) Burks.

She married Kenneth H. Hughes on November 21, 1941. He died October 31, 1991.

She was a homemaker.

She worked at Bryans Manufacturing in Monticello during World War II.

She enjoyed her flowers and all the community activities in Chalmers, especially the Civic Club.

She was a member of the Chalmers Community Church.

Survivors include sons, Thomas H. (Trudy) Hughes of Brookston and Kenny E. Hughes of Kokomo; brothers Russell (Norma) Burks of Kentland, George (Ruth) Burks and Ronald (Linda) Burks of Monon; sisters Marjorie DeVault of Chalmers and Susan (Bobby) Dunn of Fayetteville, NC: seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Son William Robert Hughes and brother, Robert W. Burks are deceased.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Bill Henderson and Rev. Danny Jewel officiating.

Burial was at Chalmers Community Cemetery.
