Donnabelle Hughes

Donnabelle G. Hughes, 74, of Chalmers, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at her home.

She was born March 16, 1931 in Cass Township to Clyde and Marnie (Musall) Farmer.

She married Gene Hughes on July 20, 1951 in Monticello. He survives.

She was a homemaker. In her earlier years she worked as a telephone operator, for Kroger Company in the meat department in Monticello, as a beautician and lastly for Frontier School in the kitchen.

She and her husband attended the Chalmers Community Church.

She enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Other survivors include two sons, Robert G. (Elaine) Hughes of Otterbein and Jerry J. (Violet) Hughes of Reynolds; two daughters Kathryn "Kathy" Hughes of West Lafayette and Darlene Sanders of Indianapolis; a sister, Ellen R. Jenkins of Delphi and a brother, Willard (Shirley) Farmer of Chalmers, and two grandsons.

A brother, Russell Farmer, died during World War II.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston with burial to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Lafayette.
