John C. Horner

John C. "Jack" Horner 85, of Lafayette died Saturday, July 24, 2004 in Westminster Village.

He was born June 8, 1919 in Monon, the son of Herbert and Frances Horner. He graduated from Jefferson High School and Dartmouth College.

He married Janice Yeoman on April 11, 1943 in Chicago. She survives.

He worked as the business administrator for Arnett Clinic for 27 years. He served in the US Navy.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette where he was an elder, deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, where he was president in 1964, American Legion Post 11, Lafayette Country Club, Medical Group Management Association, and a fellow with the American College of Medical Group Administers. He was past president of Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1985 and director of the Capital Funds Foundation of Greater Lafayette from 1979 to 1988. In 1955 he received the Junior Chamber of Commerce Young Man of the Year Award.

Surviving is [sic] a son, Steven Horner of West Lafayette, two daughters, Lynn (Robert) Swingle of Wilmington, Del., and Jean Horner of Battle Ground; a sister, Julia (Thomas) Mulligan of Cleveland, Ohio and a brother, Charles Horner of Battle Ground.

He had three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at the Central Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 30, 2004.
