Victor P. Hoehne

Victor Paul Hoehne, 83, of Brookston, died Wednesday, August 21, at 7:55 p.m. at the Indiana Veterans home in West Lafayette.

He was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Logansport, to Frank and Clara McDonald Hoehne. His marriages were to Donnajeanne Hoehne, who died in 1972 and Audrey Hoehne, who died in 1998.

He was a 1936 graduate of Chalmers High School and of Indiana University, with an education degree.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Hqs 34th Infantry Division, from 1942-46; and the Korean War, operation and training staff officer, from 1951-54; and attained the rank of major.

He lived in Brookston since September 1998, moving there from Findlay, Ohio. He lived at the Indiana Veterans Home since Nov. 20, 2001.

He taught and coached in Aurora; worked with Allis-Chalmer Mfg. Co. in LaPorte; was business manager for the Twin Lakes (Monticello) and LaPorte school systems; and was appointed by Gov. Otis Bowen to serve as chairman for five years of the Indiana Education Board (teacher bargaining and arbitration).

Surviving are a son, James Hoehne of LaPorte; daughter, Susan (James) Freel of Findlay, Ohio; special friend, Emma Lou Delp of Brookston; four grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

No funeral was held.
