T. Eugene Hines

T. Eugene Hines, 81, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Monticello, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Riverbend Nursing Home in Fort Wayne.

He was born in White County on July 23, 1924, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Julia (Carlson) Hines.

He married Evelyn R. Lawson at Evelyn's sister's home in Reynolds on October 5, 1947. She survives.

He had lived in White County nearly all of his life, moving to Fort Wayne five months ago.

He was a 1942 graduate of Buffalo High School.

He was a member of the Guernsey Church of the Brethren and had served as a deacon of the church.

He had worked for Moorman Manufacturing Company for 26 1/2 years as a feed salesman, retiring in 1983. He also worked at North Main Street Marathon in Monticello for 10 years.

He was a great husband, father and grandpa, living life to its fullest. He was a devoted Christian man, honest, loving, and always had great faith. He loved little kids and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved baseball and playing euchre. He never knew a stranger and will be dearly missed.

Other survivors include daughter Sue (Steve) Bunch of Fort Wayne; sons Gary Hines of Indianapolis, Ron Hines of Fort Wayne, Timothy (Wendy) Hines of Lafayette; sisters Donna (John) Dillenburg of York, PA, Retta (Bob) Zerth and Judy (Phil) Rae, both of Monticello and Wilma Latta of Monon; brothers Frank (Judy) Hines of Logansport, David (Jane) Hines of Monticello, Bob (Nancy) Hines and Herb (Lavon) Hines both of LaPorte, IN and Glen (Ruth) Hines of Kokomo; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter is deceased.

Funeral services were Sunday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Dana Hood officiating.

Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monticello.
