John W. Himes

John w. Himes, 85, of Findlay, Ohio and formerly of Monon died Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at The Heritage in Findlay.

He was born in Salem Township, Pulaski County, Ind. on May 28, 1920, to John and Grace (Beiswanger) Himes.

He married Harriet P. Beers on December 3, 1949. She died September 20, 1993.

He was a World War II veteran serving with the Army Corp. [sic] of Engineers.

He had worked for Marathon Oil Company for 33 years and at the time of his retirement in 1966, he was working in the pipeline division. He bowled for many years in the Marathon league as well as other teams in the area.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in McComb; a life member of the American Legion Post #3; Elks Lodge #75; Eagles Lodge #2118; all of Findlay, and the Ohio Farm Bureau.

Survivors include a sister Maxine Al-Refai, Kuwait, 24 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Three sisters, Mary DuVall, Elise Yoder, and Betty Rinker are deceased.

Services were Saturday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay with Rev. Ben Lowell officiating.

Burial was at Knollcrest Gardens Cemetery, near Arcadia.
