Isaac L. "Ike" High, 83, Chalmers, died Wed., April 2, at 4:34 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. He had been ill for three months and had been hospitalized since Thursday.
He was born Sept. 21, 1913, to William E. and Pearl Ruby Cooper High, in Warren County. He was married Oct. 10, 1951, to Marilyn E. Best, in Lafayette, and she survives.
He graduated from Boswell High School in 1931 and attended Purdue University.
He worked at Purdue; first in the Purdue Creamery as a route man and in Quality Control, then at the Purdue Dairy as a herdsman. After 27 years of service he retired in August 1977.
Prior to that he worked in civil service during World War II at Pearl Harbor as a pipefitter.
He was a member of the Ambia Methodist Church.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs Martin (Cindy) Denham, Chalmers and Mrs Rick (Alice) Johnson, Lafayette; two sons, Bruce E., Chalmers and Robert E., Monticello; two sisters, Mrs Herbert (Alice) Weber and Mrs Chester (Marjorie) Reprogle, both of Indianapolis; and 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Bonnie Shoaf officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
