Herbert T. Herget, 77, 512 E. Third St., Brookston, died Sunday, Dec. 9, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He was admitted on Dec. 6. He was in failing health for the last several years.
He was born Nov. 6, 1913, in St. Louis, Mo. His foster mother was Anna E. Herget. He was married April 5, 1937, to Bonnie McMurry, in Coffeen, Ill. She survives.
He graduated from Chaminade College in St. Louis and Coyne Electric School in Chicago in 1933. His family moved to Brooliston from Lafayette, in 1952.
He worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad for 13 years and retired Sept. 1, 1982, from Duncan Electric in Lafayette, where he was employed for 30 years.
He formerly attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds.
Also surviving are four sons, Joe, St. Cloud, Fla.; John T., Shandon, Calif.; Robert K. and Stephen A. both of Brookston; two daughters, Mrs Rosemary Howard, Fort Wayne and Mrs Angela Haselton, San Bernadino, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A son, Gregory and four grandchildren are deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
