Jesse 'J.D.' Hendryx

Jesse Darnell "J.D." Hendryx, 75, of Battle Ground died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

He was born on July 24, 1927, in Brookston, to Chester Allen and Susie Darnell Hendryx. He married Mable Mathew on August 7, 1948, in Remington. She survives.

He died in the house where he was born.

He was a 1945 graduate of Brookston High School.

He was a farmer and retired in 1992. He was most recently employed at Top Notch in Brookston.

He was a member of Brookston Federated Church.

He was a charter member of the White County Merit Board and was a member of the Brookston Optimist Club.

Surviving with his wife are sons, Gary (Pam) Hendryx of Brookston, Jeff (Kelli) Hendryx of Morton, Ill., and Mark (friend Kathy South) Hendryx of Lafayette; daughters, Suzann (Hank) Brouwer of Buck Creek and Linda (Jerry) Hurst of Brookston; brother Rex (Georgia) Hendryx of Brookston; sisters, Dana (Ralph) Hansen of Lafayette, Edres (Will) Carter of Brookston, and Sue (Pat) Barrett of Boswell; and 12 grandchildren.

Two brothers, Gordon and Carl Hendryx are deceased.

Funeral services were Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
