Mary Jane Heckathorn
Mary Jane Heckathorn, 83, a resident of Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare and a former resident of Monon and Fulton, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare.
She was born Nov. 18, 1917, to Jacob and Nannie Lowe Greenwald, in Indianapolis. She married Kenneth Dean Heckathorn and he survives.
She worked as a carrier for 20 years for the Rochester Post Office.
She had lived in Fulton for 50 years and in 1999 moved to Monon, then in March 2001 moved to Monticello.
She was an avid camper and member of the Good Sam Club.
Other survivors include a daughter, Penny (David) Yeakley-Scott of Monon; sons, Freddie K. (Merlee) Heckathorn, Celina, Ohio and Jerry D. (Maxine) Heckathorn of Rochester; a sister, Bernice Thurber, Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, Wil11am (Betty) Greenwald, Lafayette; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Three grandchildren, Brent Heckathorn, Yancy Yeakley and an infant are deceased.
Services were Saturday at the Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. George Hapner officiating.
Burial was in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
