Robert L. "Bob" Hatter
 

Robert L. "Bob" Hatter, 64, Rt. 1, Delphi, died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at his home after a seven month illness.

He was born May 16, 1930, to Walter R. and Edna G. Hanaway Hatter in Lebanon.  He married Joan Boone Calvert on July 20, 1978 in Yeoman, and she survives.  


He was a 1948 Delphi High School graduate who served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War.

He worked for almost 30 years with the Ironworkers Local No. 379, Lafayette.

He was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post No. 75, and the VFW Post No. 983, Delphi, where he was a past post chaplain. He was a past master of the Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge No. 48 in Delphi, a member of the Tippecanoe Shrine Club and the Tippecanoe Shrine Patrol. He was voted Patrolman of the Year in 1992. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley 40 & 8 Voiture No. 364, Lafayette, and the Hillbilly Club Clan No. 14, Kokomo. He enjoyed camping gardening, fishing and mushroom hunting.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Jackie Wheeler of Arkansas; two sons, Curtis Jay of Fort Wayne, and Jeff of Charlotte, NC; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Todd (Cheryl) Riley of Rt. 2. Brookston; one stepson, Glenn "Butch" Calvert of Rt. 4, Delphi; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Iannelly of Logansport; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, the Rev. Ellis Gasser officiated.

Military graveside rites were conducted at the Camden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association or the Tippecanoe Shrine Patrol.
