Robert A. Hardesty, 58, of rural Delphi, died Monday, March 13, at Lafayette Home Hospital. He had been ill for eight years and had been hospitalized since March 4, 2000.
He was born September 9, 1941, to Robert Andrew and Myrtle Hermes Hardesty, in Lafayette. He was married August 22, 1964, to Pam Peek in Reynolds and she survives.
He graduated from Reynolds High School, in 1960.
He had lived 35 years in Chalmers and moved in July 1999, to Delphi.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-62. He was employed as a boat engine mechanic and a truck driver.
He was a member of Chalmers American Legion Post 268.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Tina (Mark) Hardesty-Ackerman of Wolcott and Tracy (Jon) Hardesty-Goetz of Roanoke; son, Phillip Hardesty of Shelbyville; mother, Myrtle Hardesty of Idaville;. brothers, Jack Hardesty of Pottstown, Pa., Calvin Hardesty, Monticello; Clifford Hardesty, Brookston; Bill Hardesty, Logansport, Doyle Hardesty, Monticello; Elmer Hardesty, Idaville and Carl Hardesty, Houston, Texas; sisters, Rebecca Hardesty, Dusseldorf, Germany and Linda Hardesty Lucy, Monticello and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. The body was cremated. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
