Rosa Jane Guntrip, 104, formerly of Brookston, died Dec. 3, at 2:40 in the Monticello Community Healthcare Center. She had been a resident of the nursing home since Nov. 23, 1971.

She was born in White County near Brookston on Jan. 11, 1882, to William and Lucinda Haley Guntrip.

She had been an employee of the Brookston Canning Factory and was a baby sitter for several years. She was a member of the former Pine Grove Methodist Church near Brookston and was honored in 1962 as the oldest living member of the Brookston United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two nieces, Mrs Mary Robertson, Lafayette and Mrs. Joe (Mae) Bailey, Dundedin, Florida, and two nephews, Harold Luck, Brookston; and John Luck, Minneapolis, Minn.

The funeral was Friday in Hartzler Funeral Home at Brookston, with the Rev Wes Brookshire officiating. Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
