Helen Lora Swank Guntrlp, 83, R.1, Brookston, died Monday, Nov. 18, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been a patient for a week.
She was born Oct. 3, 1909, to James Chester and Sarah Luvina Ann Moomaw Swank, in Effingham County, Illinois. She was married Nov. 23, 1929, to Paul Edmund Guntrip, in Oak Park, Illinois, and he survives.
Since 1929, she lived in the Brookston community, after moving from Stewardson, Illinois.
She was a cook at Purdue, the Indiana Veterans Home and Phi Delta Fraternity at different times from 1958 to 1970.
She was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors, Rebekah Lodge No. 386 of Brookston, Past Noble Grand Club, American Association of Retired Persons and Frontier and Monticello Senior Citizens Clubs.
Also surviving are two daughters, JoAnn Guntrip, R.1, Brookston and Diane Carol Guntrip, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, James Edmund Guntrip, Brookston and Larry George Guntrip, Mount Prospect, Ill.; one brother, Floyd Elmer Swank, Washington, Ill.; two sisters, Sarah Ferne Hirtzel, Burbank, Calif. and Erma Pearl Erpenbeck, Sunnyvale, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Six brothers, three sisters and a grandson are deceased.
The funeral was this morning at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
