Steve Grubor, 65, 1005 S. Prairie St., Brookston, was dead on arrival at 11:16 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in poor health since November.
He was born March 17, 1925, to Tony and Mary Kenezovich Grubor, in Terre Haute. He was married March 17, 1989, to Helen Barrett, in Brookston. She survives.
He moved from Terre Haute to Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, and in 1989 to Brookston.
He was
an Army veteran of World War II, and served in Europe. In 1979 he retired
from the A&P Tea Company. He was a member of American Legion Post No.
290 at Rosedale and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1154, Lafayette.
He was an avid bowler. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Steven, Plainfield
and David, Terre Haute; two stepsons, Floyd Shassere, Terre Haute and Jim
Barrett,
Brookston; four step daughters, Mrs Kathryn Moran, Bonita Springs, Fla.,
Mrs Dick (Linda) Harner, Rt.5, Monticello; Mrs Larry (Sue) Haines, North
Vernon and Mrs Rick (Ruth Ann)
Weiderhaft,
West Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs Mary Euriga and Mrs Betty Gottardi, both
of Terre
Haute;
and 19 grandchildren.
The funeral was Monday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Steven Agal officiating.
Military graveside rites were conducted at Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
