Hurl J. Gregory, Jr., 63 of Brookston, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

He was born in Orlinda, Tenn. On May 7, 1938, to Hurl J. Sr. and Jessie Dixon Gregory. He married Marcella Richey in Mulberry on June 26, 1982. She survives.

He was employed at Landis-Gyr in Lafayette for 20 years and retired in 1997.

He played country music in the Lafayette, Frankfort and Monticello areas for 24 years.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 1529 of Lafayette.

Surviving with his wife are daughters, Bobbie (John) Riegle and Betty (David) Antos, both of Lafayette; children raised in his home, a son Roger (Julie) Gregory of West Lafayette and daughters, Carol (Don) Allen of Lafayette and Mary Kay (Monty) Wright of Walhalla, N.C.; a stepson, George (Marcia) Richey of Brookston; stepdaughters, Vickie (Alan) Barbour and Rhonda (Joe) Greer, both of Brookston; a brother Leon (Maria) Wood of Tempe, Arizona; a sister, Rita (Joe) Gaskill of Lafayette; and 21 grandchildren.

Funeral Services were Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Pastor Jimmy Burchell officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens, West Lafayette.
