Hubert A. Graves

Hubert A. Graves, 84, Lafayette, the stepfather of local residents, died Sunday, October 22, in Heritage healthcare, West Lafayette.

He was born January 8, 1916, to John and Lillie Carter Graves, in Sumner County, Tennessee. He was married July 1, 1961, to Virginia Stackhouse, in Scottsville, Kentucky. She died August 13, 1998.

He lived in Lafayette since 1925 and worked at Henry Poore Lumber in West Lafayette. He retired from the Lafayette School Corp. in 1974.

He is survived by stepdaughter, Norma (Ralph) Crowell, Brookston; stepson, Robert (Faye) Stackhouse, Brookston; brothers, Hoy and Wayne Graves, both of West Lafayette; sisters, Gladys Dearning, Lafayette and Edith Graves, Maxine Ingram and Katherine Thompson, all of West Lafayette; four step-grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.

Two brothers, William "R.C." and Donald Graves, and a sister, Ada Ruth are deceased.

Funeral service was Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
