Hilda "Radie" Carrigan Grace, formerly of Brookston, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at Comfort Retirement and Nursing Home in Lafayette, where she was a resident for two weeks. She had been in failing health.
She had been a resident of Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette, since April 1990, prior to moving to Comfort Retirement.
She was born April 10, 1912, to Adam Carrigan and Grace McCaine, in Carroll County. She was married Oct. 9, 1937, to Ralph Grace Sr., in Fowler, and he died Feb. 16, 1979.
She graduated in 1930, from Rockfield High School and since lived in Brookston. Her husband and she owned and operated the Brookston elevators.
She was a member of the Brookston Federated Church and Psi Iota Xi Sorority, where she was honorary retired member. She was a life member of the Brookston American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a brother, Leland Carrigan, Ada, Oklahoma; a stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Grace, Brookston; a niece, Carol Frantz, Lafayette; and a nephew, Carrigan, Ada, Oklahoma; two step-granddaughters; and four step-great grandchildren. Five sisters, a brother and stepson are deceased.
The funeral was Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery,
Brookston. Memorials can be given to the Brookston Federated Church.
