Charles Alan Gosney

Charles "Chuck" Alan Gosney, 73, of Brookston, died Sunday, January 11, 2004 in his home.

He was born January 31, 1930, in Moores Hill; he graduated from Moores Hill High School in 1947, and received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from Purdue University in 1951. He received his master's degree in education in 1963 and his educational specialist degree in 1975 from Purdue University.

He moved to Brookston in 1988. He previously had lived in West Lafayette for 35 years and Henry County for three years.

On June 23, 1951, he married Margie Coleman in Lawrenceburg. She survives.

He worked with the 4-H Youth as a staff member for 35 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the Cooperative Extension Service. He was presented a Sagamore of the Wabash from Gov. Bayh in 1995 and the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club in 1993. He was past peesident and member of the Lafayette Bowling Association, and was named Mr. Bowler in 1986. He was a member of Lafayette Harrison Kiwanis and American Legion Post 251. He had also volunteered as a cub master of the Klondike Cub Scouts.

Surviving are two sons, Michael L. (Cindy) Gosney of Dayton, Ohio, and Mark A. Gosney of West Lafayette and two daughters Debra S. Gosney of Lafayette and Carol (Randy) Masterson of Brookston. He had 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

His parents, a daughter and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Hippensteel Funeral Home with Pastors Jan Dimmick and Leland McReynolds officiating.

Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, with full military rites.
