Richard N. Gholston

Richard N. Gholston, 75, of Brookston, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Regency Place, Lafayette.

He was born on January 28, 1926, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to William Abner and Maude Mae Condry Gholston.

He moved to Brookston from Gary in 1982 after retiring as a round house foreman for the EJ and E Railroad, which serviced U.S. Steel, Gary Works.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a 32nd degree mason in the Steel City Chapter, Gary.

Surviving are his daughter, Jana (Fred) Neligh of Brookston, with whom he lived; a son, Gregg (Johnna) Gholston of Springboro, Ohio; a brother, Hollis Gholston and sister, Velma Callaway, both of El Reno, Oklahoma; and six grandchildren, Richard, Jenna and Ross Hosler; Jacob, Daniel and Marcus Gholston.

Four brothers, a sister and one grandson are deceased.

Graveside services will be conducted later this week in El Reno Cemetery in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
