Leonard R. Fross, 88,
Monti cello, died on Monday at 7:23 p.m. in the White County Hospital. He had been hospitalized two days.He was born on Aug. 15, 1899, in Liberty Township, to the Rev. Jacob M. and Ida M. Royer Fross. He was married on Aug. 19, 1918, to Inez A. Thompson, who sur vives.
He had lived all his life in Liberty Township, with more than
80 years in the same home. He was a school bus driver for 16 years for the Liberty Township Schools and farmed. He also had been a self employed truck driver for 60 years, hauling farm products.He and his wife were honored as the oldest couple in Liberty Town ship at the Buffalo Centennial in 1986. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary jn August. He was knowledgeable of county history, which he shared with many people.
He was a member of Pike Creek Church of the Brethren.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Jean York, Monticello; Mary Jo Baker, Indianapolis; and June SmIth of Auburndale, FL; a son, Leonard Lyle of Indianapolis; a grandson raised in his home, Larry W. York of Monticello; seven other grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A son, two brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild are deceased. The funeral is today at 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, Monticello, with Rev. Glen Camp bell officiating. Burial at Hughes Cemetery in White County.
