Jack R. Fortner

Jack R. Fortuer, 58, formerly of Brookston, died Monday, February 7, 2005 in an auto accident in ElMirage, California.

He was born August 29, 1946, in St. Francisville, Illinois. He spent most of his childhood in Brookston and attended Brookston schools. He also lived in Tippecanoe County prior to moving to California in 1975.

He served in the Army receiving a medical discharge.

He worked as a truck driver and was a licensed repossession agent. He owned Murphy's Cafe in ElMirage and retired from Edison Electric.

He was a member and bus driver for Church of the Lake in EIMirage.

Surviving are his wife, Terri Carr Fortner and his daughter, Lori Ralson, both of ElMirage, California, two stepdaughters; one stepson; his mother, Dorothy Scruggs of West Lafayette; a brother, Dennis Fortner of Beaumont, California and two sisters, JoDel Scruggs List of Brookston and Dixie Thomas of West Lafayette.
