William W. Fitzgerald II, 79 of Lafayette, a former Brookston resident, died Tuesday, April 4, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born Jan. 4, 1921, to William W. and Florence Herdman Fitzgerald, in Brookston.
He lived in Lafayette since 1965 and had also resided in Brookston and Indianapolis.
He graduated in 1939 from Brookston High School. He studied hairdressing in Indianapolis, Paris and Rome..
He was the owner/operator of the House of Fitzgerald in Lafayette. retiring in 1997 after 50 years of hairdressing. The opening of the House of Fitzgerald was featured in the 1964 issue of Hairdressers Monthly Magazine.
He attended the United Methodist Church in Brookston.
He was a member of Wabash Valley Trust for Historic Preservation; Long Center; Tippecanoe Co. Historical Association; and he enjoyed playing the piano.
Surviving are a brother, Robert E. Fitzgerald, of Peru; a sister, Mrs Paul (Aletha) Bailey of Brookston and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were Friday at the United Methodist Church in Brookston, with the Rev. Jan Dimick officiating. Hahn Funeral Home, Lafayette, was in charge of the service.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the Humane Society or the Diabetes Association.
