William C. Fields, 85, Plainfield, died June 7, in his home.

He was born Dec. 27, 1904, to Sam and Mary Wooden Fields, in Hart County, Kentucky. His first marriage was to Mary Louise Cowger, who died July 16,1949. He married Juanita Rutherford, Nov. 9, 1957, who survives.

He lived in the Brookston area from 1923 until the 1940s. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon.

Also surviving are three sons: Herbert, Otterbien, Harold D., Wolcott and William H., Lafayette; three stepsons; Donald,
Cecil and Charles Freeman, all of Chicago; two stepdaughters: Mrs Pauline Wilson, Indianapolis and Mrs Marietta  Ferguson, Charlotte, N.C.; 30 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

The funeral was Monday in the Hartzler Funeral Home; Brookston, with the Rev. John Retherford officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Riverview Cemetery, Monticello.
