Gloria Belle Erickson

Gloria Belle (Thompson) Erickson, 75, of Brookston, died Saturday, November 25, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been ill since February and was admitted to the hospital Friday.

She was born September 16, 1925, in South Bend to Paul and Bessie A. Keplar Thompson. She married John Paul Erickson on August 24, 1947, in Brookston. He survives.

Her parents owned Thompson Funeral Home in Brookston from 1936-65.
She was a 1943 graduate of Brookston High School and attended DePauw University for three years.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member and elder of Brookston Federated Church, Ruth Circle, FWCE, Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and served on numerous boards of the church.

She was an honorary retired member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Chi Chapter and was a member of Crystal Chapter No. 165 OES, Monticello. She was also a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at DePauw.

She was a member of Lafayette Porcelain Artists. She was an instructor in china painting an artist and enjoyed antiques.

Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Lana (Robert) Little of Brookston; a son, John (Denise) Erickson of Brookston, a daughter-in-law, Ginger Erickson of West Lafayette; and seven grandchildren.

A son Steven P. Erickson, died on April 10, 1997.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. today at Brookston Federated Church, with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
