Mary C. English, 92, of Portage and former Buffalo resident, died Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at Portage Sterling House in Portage. She had been in failing health for the past couple of years.
She was born in Holsopple, Pa., on June on June 22, 1908, to Charles and Elizabeth Edminston Trevorrow. She married Wallace G. "Wally" English in Gary on November 9, 1935. He died August 9, 1998.
She lived in the Portage area for the last couple of years, moving from Buffalo.
She was a retired elementary school teacher.
She was a member of the Ross Reform Church in Gary. She attended the Monticello United Methodist Church while she lived in the area.
She was a 50-year member of Olive-Chapter 396 O.E.S. in Portage.
She is survived by a daughter Jane (Michael) Bernadine of Merrillville; sisters Helen Kendig, Buffalo, Charlotte Wisor of Stoystown, PA., Nancy (Alfred "Pat") Small, Decatur, IL; brother Tom (Dorothy) Trevorrow of Ford City, PA and two grandchildren.
A son David W. English is deceased.
Funeral service was Friday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Rev. James R. Copeland officiating. Burial was in Hughes Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Ross Reform Church in Gary or Monticello United Methodist Church.
