Wilma R. Emerson

Wilma Robinson Emerson, 87, Monticello, died Monday at 7:07 p.m. in White Co. Memorial Hospital. She had been hospitalized since June 12.

She was born in Brookston, Jan. 7, 1900, and was married June 16, 1927 in Lafayette, to W. Johnson Emerson. He died May 5, 1983.

She received her teaching certificate from Ball State University and taught for 33 years in the primary grades in Brookston, Monticello, Yeoman and Buffalo.

Mrs Emerson was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She was a charter member of Chi Chapter, Psi Iota Xi sorority in Brookston; and a member of  Thalia Club and Brookston Mothers Club.

Surviving are two sons, George W. and Edwin G., both of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs Wallace (Janet) Larson, Fair Oaks, Calif.; and a sister, Bernice Robinson McMullen, Santa Monica, Calif.

Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. in Monticello United Methodist Church. Interment in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home in Monticello was in charge.
