Clarence Leo Dyer, 85, of 405 Second St., died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday at St Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been a patient there for one month.
He was born in Brookston, Oct. 26, 1920, to Elza Clarence and Ellen Beulah Tull Dyer. He married Lela L. Rhodes in Monticello, Aug. 28, 1951. She survives.
He attended Brookston schools and was a life member of the Moose Lodge 908 in Monticello. He was also a member of the 25 Club and had a fellowship in the Moose.
He retired in 1979 from Purdue, where he worked for 20 years as a welder in the physical plant.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific with the 96th Air Service Squadron. He also received a purple heart.
Surviving with his wife are a brother, Dale of Brookston and a sister, Mrs Maxine Blackman of Brookston. Three sisters are deceased.
Services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev Duncan McNab officiating. Burial was in Bunnell Cemetery at Frankfort.
