Raymond Dunker

Raymond Dunker, 80, of Reynolds died Friday, May 9, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he had been a patient for a month.

He was born on May 27, 1922 in White County, to George and Thelma Strong Dunker. He married Joan Miller on October 6, 1990, in Reynolds. She survives.

He retired from the White County Highway Department in 1987. He was a caretaker for the 4-H Fairgrounds in White County for 13 years. He was a livestock hauler and contractor for 15 years and also farmed in White County from 1943-1955. He was a school bus driver for North White School Corporation for 15 years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge.

He enjoyed small engine repair, storytelling and fishing.

Surviving with his wife are daughters, Rayetta (Gordon) Fetter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Trudy (James) Krintz of Monticello; stepdaughters, Joyce (Steve) Ransom of Williamsport, Pat (Gene) Nally of Attica and Paula (David) Dinwiddie of West Point; a brother, Ken S. Dunker of Greenville, Tenn.; sisters, Norma (Tom) Schroeder of Crossville, Tenn., and Nancy (Bob) Bilyeu of Reynolds; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; foster sons, Gerald Ward and Shannon Wise; foster daughter Chelsea Brooks; four foster grandchildren and three foster great-grandchildren.

His first wife, Loretta Dunker, brothers Fred H. "Fritz" Dunker and Donald Dunker, and a son Randy Dunker are deceased.

Funeral services were Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds with Fisher-Voorhis Draper Funeral Home in charge.

Burial was in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.
