Frank Carl Downs, 69, Rensselaer, died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer.
He was born August 22, 1931 in Rensselaer, the son of James and Mabel Hayes Downs.
His marriage was to Marilyn Sue Storey.
Mr Downs was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer, having been born and raised on a local farm.
He had been employed with Coca Cola Bottling Company as an assistant bottler and route salesman and alter was a truck driver for Wm. 0. Hopkins Trucking in Rensselaer. He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army, serving from March 1951 to March 1954, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Rensselaer VFW Post 1279 and of the Paralyzed Veteran's Association.
Surviving are three sons; Roger Downs and Douglas Downs, both of Rensselaer and David Downs of Walkerton, Ind.; a daughter Beth (Brian Carroll) Downs of Rensselaer; a brother Robert (Myrtle) Downs of Rensselaer and several nieces and nephews. He also had 4 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were this morning at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Rev. Mark Calloway officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Morocco, Ind.
