Eva Catherine Downing, 76, formerly of Indianapolis and Brookston, died Monday in the Lutheran Home in Mulberry where she had been a resident since October 1990.

She was born August 11, 1916 in Battle Ground to Chester and Esta B. Newcomb Downing.

She attended Battle Ground High School and Lafayette Business College.

She lived in Indianapolis from 1942 until 1976 when she moved to Brookston.

She worked for 32 years at the U.S. Army Finance Center in Indianapolis, retiring on December 31,  1974.

She was a former member of the Brookston Church of Christ.

Survivors include two brothers, William W. of Meridian, Mississippi, and J. Frank of Ft. Wayne.

Two sisters, Lilith E. Davies and Dorothy H. Kennedy, and 1 brother, Guy N. Downing, are deceased.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Brookston Church of Christ, Bill Romans officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
