Earl E. "Earl the Pearl" Downey, 73, of Monon died Friday, July 29, 2005 at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born April 10, 1932 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Ernest and Beatrice Nix Downey.

He married Nancy L. DelCotto on February 7, 1959 in Chicago. She survives.

He was the proud father of his sons Michael (Lisa) Downey and Mark Downey, grandfather of Michael II, and Kristy Downey; great-grandfather of Samantha Downey. Two sisters, Patricia and Sharon also survive.

He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers[.]

A private celebration of Earl's life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello.
