Pauline R. Douglass

Pauline R. Douglass, 82, Monticello, died Sunday, Aug. 29 at Monticello Healthcare Center.

She was born Feb. 3, 1917, to George L. and Hannah L. Connell Conwell, in White County.  She was married May 13, 1934, to Gerald "Jack" Douglass, in Buffalo. He preceded her in death April 16, 1983.

She attended Buffalo School and lived in the Monticello area most of her life.

She had been a cook at the Monticello Nursing Home and she and her husband owned and operated Douglass Fertilizer for several years.

She was a member of the Sitka Baptist Church and the Sitka Ladies Aid and Mission Society

She was a charter member of the Merry Mixers Home Economics Club and was a volunteer for Contact Help and Meadowlawn Elementary.

She is survived by sons, Dwight Douglass of Athens, Ala. and John Douglass of Monticello; daughters, Connie Richardson and Mrs Paul Roma Cripe, Monticello and Donna Douglass of Lakeland, Fla.; half-sisters, Avanell Salomon of Elkgrove Village, Ill, and Esther Owen of Buffalo; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a half-brother.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Voorhis -Draper Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Bose officiating

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Sitka Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
