John Douglass

John L. Douglass, 65, of Monticello died at his residence on Saturday, August 14, 2004.

He was born in Liberty Township in White County, the son of Gerald and Pauline Connell Douglass on November 13, 1938. He married Dora Mae Dahle in 1961 in Oil City, Pa. She died in 1973.

He had lived in the Monticello community all of his life. He also lived in Oil City, Pa., for a short period of time.

He was a member of the Sitka Baptist Church, Moose Lodge #906, and the I.O.O.F. Lodge #107 in Monticello.

He retired in 1999 as a mechanic from the Indiana Dept. of Transportation, Monticello Sub District and was also a farmer.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam era.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Douglass of Lafayette; a daughter Dawn (Shawn) Cripe of Monticello; brother Dwight Douglass and sisters Connie Richardson, and Roma Cripe, all of Monticello and a sister Donna Douglass of Lakeland, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were at the Hughes Cemetery on August 17 and burial was in the Hughes Cemetery.
