George E. Doremire


George Elwood Doremire, 85, West Lafayette, formerly Rensselaer, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday. March 25, at the
Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette.

He was born in Chalmers, Feb. 1913, to John Socrates and Maude Ora Myers Doremire. He was married Dec. 25, 1951, td Catherine Gertrude Zimmer in Chalmers. She died April 23, 1986.

He attended the Chalmers High School.

He was a veteran of World War II and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

He was a self-employed farmer for 30 years, having lived in rural Jasper County. Prior to that he lived in Buffalo.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Chalmers, later named the Community Church.

He was a member of the Rensselaer Senior Citizens Club.

He is survived by a stepson, Herman Lee Tweedie, Mon ticello; a stepdaughter, Mrs Thomas (Nancy) Messman, Rensselaer; three brothers, Harry J., Monticello; Lester S., Chalmers; and John Billie, Lafayette; three sisters, Helen Riley, Lafayette; Mrs Francis (Bessie) Reason, Fountaintown and Mary Evelyn Musselman, Garland, Texas; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A brother and two sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were Saturday at the Jackson Funeral Chapel, Rennselaer.

Burial was in the Chalmers Cemetery.
