Frances L. "Fan" Steely Dilts, 101, formerly of Brookston, died Tuesday, April 14, at Heritage Healthcare, West Lafayette. She had lived there since December 1988.

She was born April 22, 1890, to Edmund and Sarah Alkire Steely, in Round GroveTownship. She was married Jan. 8, 1913, to Asher Dilts, who died in March 1957.

She graduated in 1910, from Otterbein High School. She moved in 1926, to Brookston.

She and her husband owned and operated the Royal Blue Grocery in Brookston, for 10 years.

She was a member of Brookston United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She is an honorary retired member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Psi Chapter of Brookston, and was also a member of the Art Club and Brookston American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Mary Grace, Brookston, two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Two sons, four brothers and three sisters are deceased.

The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Friends may call today from 5-8 p.m.

Burial will be in Pond Grove Cemetery, Otterbein.
