Lester K. Denton

Lester K. Denton, 86, Monon, died Sunday, August 2, at 1:27 p.m. in Rosewood Terrace Nursing Home, Elichart, where he had resided since Dec. 1997. He had been ill for three years.

He was born July 31, 1912, to Benjamin and Mae Peregrine Denton, in Lee. He was married June 29, 1933, to Dorothy
Cochran in Monon. She died Sept. 10, 1950. He then married Vivian M. Eldridge, Nov. 10, 1951, and she died Feb. 7, 1998.

He was employed at RCA, Monticello, in maintenance for 26 years before retiring. He was also a farmer for 36 years and was also a truck driver during the years he farmed. After retiring, he ran a lawnmower repair service.

He was a member of the Lee United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Monticello Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge of Monon.

He is survived by three daughters, Helen Vandervort, Lafayette; Mary Sue Williams, Brandenton, Florida and Joyce Callier, Vale, Oregon; two sons, Robert, Elkhart and Harry, Mission, Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Parker, Rensselaer; Dora Elston, Lafayette; Imogene Waymouth, Remington and Patricia Tiede, Monon; 24 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

A daughter, four brothers, three sisters, a grandchild and two great grandchildren are deceased.

Funeral services were today, Aug. 5, in Kellogg Funeral Home with the Rev. James Copeland officiating.

Burial will be in the Osborne Cemetery, Rensselaer.
