Fred D. DeMoss, 58, of Winter Garden, Florida, and formerly of Monticello, died Sunday, May 30, in Orange Co. Regional Medical Burn Center, from injuries sustained in a house fire on Tuesday.
He was born Jan. 31, 1935, to James F. and Louise A. Wocknitz DeMoss, in Wolcott. His mother lives in Monticello.
He lived in the Wolcott community until moving to Monticello in 1948.
He graduated from Monticello High School in 1953, and from Fort Wayne International Business College.
He served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
For 24 years, he managed the White Co. Farm Bureau Cooperative.
He moved in 1984, to Florida, and had been employed at Walt Disney MGM studios for the past six years.
He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, FL.
Surviving with his mother are three sons; Michael W., Springhill, FL; Mark W., Mobile Ala.; and Mathew W., R.2, Brookston; a sister, Mrs Gerald (Margie) Meents, Monticello and two grandsons.
The funeral was today at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Brown officiating.
Military rites were conducted at IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
