Clarence E. Davies, 88, a former Brookston resident, died Sunday, Sept 26, at St. Anthony Healthcare, Lafayette. He had been ill since February and a resident of Rosewalk Commons in Lafayette, since June 1998.
He was born Sept. 10, 1911, to Chester and Orpha Holiday Davies, in Montezuma. He was married Jan. 6, 1933 to Lilith Downing and she died Feb. 23, 1959.
His second marriage was Jan. 5, 1964, to Mary Lough Clements, and she survives.
From 1933-98, he lived in Brookston. He moved in 1923 from Parke County to Cairo.
He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1929.
He retired in 1980 from farming.
He was a member of Brookston Federated Church.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Janice Patterson of Fishers, Jill Goss of Indianapolis and Rosemary Doan of Roswell, Ga.; a son, Doug Davies of Brookston; two brothers, George Davies of Brookston and Chester Davies of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters, Blanche Bardwell of Clarion, Iowa and Bertha Gue of San Diego, Calif.; a stepbrother, John Hites of Portland, Oregon; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Charles and Ray are deceased.
Funeral
services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home,
Brookston, with the Rev. Lelan
McReynolds
and the Rev. Stuart Robertson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday
ftom 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the Brookston Federated Church or CampTecumseh YMCA.
