Everett Crosby

Everett Crosby, 82, of the Headlee community died Sunday, December 19, 2004 at his residence.

He was born February 5, 1922 at Wolcott the son of Charles W. and Deva Lear Crosby. His marriage was to Genevieve J. Nice on June 18, 1944 in White County. She died May 26, 2003.

Everett had lived in the Headlee/Buffalo communities all of his life and was a 1940 graduate of Buffalo High School. He played the guard position on the Buffalo High School basketball team.

He was involved in the Democrat party. He had served as the Cass Township Trustee for eight years and was the precinct committeeman for several years as well.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting, playing euchre and camping at different lakes around Indiana. He and his late wife Genevieve would go camping at Ely, Minnesota for several years. He was a member of the Buffalo Hunting Club, where they hunted coyotes.

He was a member of the White Oak Umted Methodist Church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Winamac.

He had farmed all of his life and was involved with several agriculture groups, such as ASC and SCS.

He had also served as president of the Pro Cemetery Association for several years.

Survivors include three daughters; Linda (Fred) Mosher of Monon, Sharon (fiance Larry Sims) and Judy (Fred) Hasting of Monticello (both of the Buffalo area); one son, Steve (Ruthann "Annie") Crosby of Star City (Headlee); two sisters, Dorothy (Ralph) Nice of Monticello (Headlee area) and Margaret Anderson of Monticello (Buffalo area) and one brother Eugene (Nellie) Crosby of Monticello, (Buffalo area). He had 10 grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and two step-grandsons and nine great grandchildren.

An infant daughter, Mary Ann Crosby, and infant son Richard Lee Crosby and a great grandson, Dalton James DuVall preceded him in death.

Funeral services were this morning at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Clark officiating. Burial was in Pro Indian Creek Cemetery in Pulaski County.
