Mabel E. Coonrod
Mabel E. Coonrod, 92, of Monticello, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at White County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Virgie on February 27, 1913, to George A. and Anna E. (McDaniel) Cover.
She married Defoe Coonrod in Rensselaer on October 21, 1934. He died June 5, 1985.
She was a homemaker. She had lived most of her life on the family farm near Buffalo.
She was a 75-year member of Liberty Homemakers. She was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church for many years where she taught Sunday school. She had been attending the Monticello Christian Church for the last several years.
She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, playing cards (euchre), watching sports and crocheting.
She was passionate about life and demonstrated a contagious energy in everything of which she was a part. She had a dynamic personality that encompassed all those around her. She loved to have friends and family over for a meal and a good old fashioned visit. Most importantly she had a fulfilling life with an unwavenng belief in the Lord. With such strong faith, she was ready to leave her ailing body and go to be with God and her family that have gone on before her.
Survivors include sons, Ronald (Pat) Coonrod, Idaville, Melvin (Carolyn) Coonrod and George (Jackie) Coonrod, both of Monticello, and Jerry (Diana) Coonrod, of Bokelia, Fla.; daughters, Marie (Bill) Crutchfield, Monticello and Susie (Thomas) Sughrue, Indianapolis; sisters, Ardith Pettit, Rensselaer, and Marie Olsen, Fair Oaks; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Granddaughter, Kimberly Coonrod; sisters Nellie and Edrie Schultz; and a brother, Robert Cover, are deceased.
Funeral services were Monday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Dodson, officiating.
Burial was at Buffalo Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello Christian Church or the Buffalo Christian Church.
