Singleton Coogle
Singleton Coogle, 88, of Lafayette and formerly of Fowler, died at Heritage Healthcare Center in Lafayette on Sunday, September 26, 2004.
He was born in Eastview, KY, March 1, 1916 he [sic] moved to Indiana in 1943, and had resided in the Fowler area since 1970. He married Mary Thelma Miller on September 12, 1939 in Elizabethtown. KY. She survives.
Mr. Coogle attended Oak Ridge, KY schools, and farmed most of his life, later working at Benton Central High School, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Fowler Wesleyan Church, where he was involved with many functions, and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are four daughters, Janice Stout of South Bend, Joyce (Bill) Huffman of Winamac; Kathryn Sullivan of Kankakee, Ill.; Carolyn (Don) Spoonmore of Romney; and a son Raymond (Mary Lou) Coogle of Lafayette.
He had 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, one great-grandson, one great-great grandson, five sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at the Fisher Family of Funeral Homes, 914 Columbia St., Lafayette from 4 until 8 p.m. today (Wednesday).
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Fowler Wesleyan Church. Rev. Dan Fisher will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at Fowler Cemetery.
