Barney M. Constant

Barney M. Constant, 81, R.2, (Horseshoe Bend), Brookston, died Tuesday, May 15, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, in the emergency room.

He was born March 6, 1909, to James and Elizabeth Walters Constant, in Hopkinsville, Ky. He was married in July 1929, to Mildred Hobbs, in Tipton. She died Oct. 13,  1983.

He moved from Clinton County to the Brookston area in 1978.

He was a farmer in Clinton County and was employed with the old Nickle Plate Railroad, later known as Norfolk & Western for 47 years, retiring in 1974. Then he worked at Essex Wire Co., Lafayette, and for the Cablec Co., Lafayette, for eight rears, retiring again, in 1989.

He was the oldest member of the St Matthew Lutheran Church, Delphi, and a member of the brotherhood of Retired Railroad Workers.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Charles (Sherrie Ann) Randle, Delphi; Mrs Betty Jo Blissett, Marion; and Mrs Patricia L. Milner, Roselle, Ill.; one sister, Claudia Reed, Louisville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Two sisters, one brother and three great-grandchildren are deceased.

The funeral was today at 1:30 p.m. in Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, with Pastor Arnold Raabe officiating.

Entombment will be in Green Lawn Mausoleum at Frankfort.
