Kenneth Ray Connell
 

Kenneth Ray Connell, 27, Monticello, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, at his home. He had suffered from cancer since March 1, 1993.

He was born March 26, 1967, to Larry Dean and Bonnie Lou Tomlinson Connell, in Lafayette.
He was married Aug. 5, 1989, to his high school sweetheart, the former Tammy Sue Clear, a sixth grade teacher at Roosevelt Middle School and she survives.

He was a lifelong resident of Monticello and graduated from Twin Lakes High School in 1985. He graduated in 1989 from Wabash College with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. He received a scholarship to play football and baseball at Wabash College. He also was a member and treasurer of the Indiana Beta chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Wabash College.

He was employed as manager of the White Co. Co-op Petroleum Plant at Chalmers.

An avid supporter of school athletics, he enjoyed coaching sixth grade boys basketball at Roosevelt Middle School. He also kept game statistics for the Twin Lakes High School varsity basketball team for three years. He coached an age 12 and younger AAU basketball team and also coached and played on an ASA men's softball team, sponsored by The Riverside Restaurant.

He attended the Monticello United Methodist Church.

Surviving with his wife and parents of Monticello, is a brother, Eric Wayne, West Lafayette; a sister, Trina Ann Connell, Monticello; paternal grandmother, Mary Connell, Francesville; and a nephew.

The funeral was Friday in the Twin Lakes High School auditorium with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Burial was in IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
