Esther Elizabeth Collier

Esther Elizabeth (Downing) Collier, 90, of the Lafayette and Buck Creek areas, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been ill for two weeks.

She was born in Brookston on April 10, 1911, to Clay and Lora Mariow Downing. She married Marshall W. Collier in Battle Ground on February 21, 1944. He died on October 16, 1975.

She was a 1928 graduate of Brookston High School and attended Lafayette Business College.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Friendly Neighbors Home Demonstration Club and the Euchre Club.

A son, David (Sandra) Collier of Buck Creek; a daughter Madonna Collier of Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Phyllis (Sam) Williamson of Kokomo; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren survive her.

Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Services were Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
