Darrell J. "Bud" Collette, 65, Fowlerton, died at 3:19 Jan. 14, in the Marion VA Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr Collette, born in Fairmount Township, was an Army veteran of World War II serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in Africa and Europe. He had been employed at the Owens Corning Co. for 29½ years as a brick mason. He was a 1940 graduate of Gas City High School and was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Association and the Gas City VFW. Mr Colette was one of the brick masons who constructed the original VFW post in Gas City.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jo; two daughters, Mrs Marvin (Dianna) Davis, Chalmers and Mrs David (Janet) Eckelbarger, Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs Paul (Jayne) DeLong, Newark, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 18 in the Needham-Storey Funeral Service Storey Chapel, Gas City, with the Rev G. Bright Hanna officiating. Burial was in Grant Memorial Park cemetery, Marion.
